What Farmco Recommends It For:

Farmco recommends Flexolt for controlling body lice in sheep and lambs from 6kg, whatever their wool length. It suits off-shears sheep, long-wool outbreaks, unshorn lambs at foot, split-shearing mobs and newly purchased stock. It’s a strong option when rain, cold weather or poor shearing get in the way of dipping or jetting.

Why It’s a Farmco Favourite:

Flexolt breaks the link between lice control and shearing, so you treat when it suits you. Its novel active, fluralaner, works systemically from the inside and controls lice strains resistant to synthetic pyrethroids and insect growth regulators. Rain before or after treatment won’t affect it, and the wool harvesting interval is zero days.

Lice Control From the Inside

Flexolt contains 10g/L fluralaner, a member of the isoxazoline family and a new chemistry for sheep lice. Given orally, it travels through the animal’s system to kill lice in any length of wool, from off-shears to long wool.

Treat on Your Timeline

Rain, cold snaps and poor shearing can all upset traditional lice treatments. Oral dosing avoids those problems. Treat long-wool outbreaks as soon as you spot lice, treat purchased sheep off the truck (once rehydrated), and treat every sheep on the property at once, even with split shearing.

Complete the Program With Lambs

You can treat lambs from 6kg body weight, so lambs at foot don’t become a source of reinfestation.

Simple, Familiar Dosing

Dose at 1.5mL per 10kg body weight, regardless of wool length. Most standard drench applicators work well. Weigh a sample of each mob, dose to the heaviest animal, and draft into lines if weights vary widely. Mark each sheep as you go so you don’t miss any.

Get the Best Results

For effective lice control, muster thoroughly and treat every sheep on the property at the same time. Check boundary fences, and keep treated sheep away from untreated or unknown-status sheep. Avoid treating ewes less than 4 weeks before or during lambing.
