What Farmco Recommends It For:

Farmco recommends Maverick for sheep producers who want to knock out lice and worms in a single off-shears application — no double handling, no extra mustering. It’s particularly valuable where lice resistant to synthetic pyrethroids are a known problem on your property. With both external and internal parasite control covered in one pass, Maverick streamlines your shearing day and your whole parasite management program.

Why It’s a Farmco Favourite:

Maverick is an excellent rotation option thanks to its abamectin active, giving producers a reliable alternative in a resistance management program. It’s rainfast, so you’re not left second-guessing whether that afternoon shower undid your work. The convenience of single-application lice and worm control in a pour-on format makes it one of the most practical tools in the shed at shearing time.

One Application. Two Jobs Done.

Shearing is already a big logistical effort — Maverick makes it work harder for you. Applied within 24 hours of shearing, this off-shears pour-on delivers proven control of sheep body lice (Bovicola ovis), including strains resistant to synthetic pyrethroids, alongside treatment and control of abamectin-sensitive gastrointestinal nematodes — including levamisole and benzimidazole resistant strains.

How Maverick Works

Maverick’s active ingredient, abamectin at 6g/L, penetrates the fleece and skin effectively when applied off-shears, delivering reliable lice knockdown and worm control from a single treatment. Its rainfastness means the active stays where it needs to be, even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Application

Apply at 10mL per 10kg liveweight as a pour-on within 24 hours of shearing. Do not use on lambs under 10kg liveweight or less than 6 weeks of age.
