Waratah Wizard Wire Strainer

Strong, Reliable Wire Straining
Available now at Farmco, the Wizard® Wire Strainer by Waratah is built for Australian fencing conditions. It delivers secure, efficient tensioning for both plain and barbed wire. Because it grips wire firmly, it makes maintaining fence lines easier. As a result, fences stay tight and secure in all conditions.

Versatile and Easy to Use
This strainer comes with a standard 1.8 m chain, allowing quick attachment to a strainer post. For longer fence runs, you can choose the optional 4.5 m chain, which adds flexibility for larger properties. Additionally, when paired with the Wedgelock® clamp, it is ideal for tensioning prefabricated fencing. This way, you can use a single tool for multiple fencing tasks.

Durable for the Long Haul
Crafted to meet the demands of rural and farm work, the Wizard® Wire Strainer keeps fences in top shape year after year. Its robust construction and smart design reduce downtime and improve efficiency. Therefore, whether repairing a single section or tightening kilometres of wire, this strainer gets the job done.

Country of Origin
Manufactured by Waratah in Australia, the Wizard® Wire Strainer is built with Aussie conditions in mind—durable, reliable, and made to last under local farm and fencing demands.

How to Use It
To get the most out of your Wizard® Wire Strainer:

  1. Loop the hook end of the 1.8 m chain around a sturdy strainer post and secure it to a link.

  2. Hold the wire strainer by the handle and open the jaws to fit around the wire.

  3. Clamp the jaws firmly onto the wire for a secure grip.

  4. Make sure the chain isn’t twisted, then align a jaw onto a link and pull tight.

  5. “Walk” the jaws along the chain back toward the post, steadily straining the wire.

  6. Continue until your wire reaches the desired tension—then tie it off.

  7. To release, manipulate the handle until the claws retract and slack appears—then safely remove the tool.

Additional Uses

  • Prefabricated fencing: When combined with the Wedgelock® clamp, this tool strains StockSafe‑T®, Stocklock®, Stocktite®, Hinge Joint, and Netting systems quickly and effectively.

  • Mid-line wire joining: Secure one end of a wire to the chain, then follow the same straining process to bring both ends into line under tension.
