Fire and Bushfire Fighting Equipment (including Firefighting Pumps) to Help You Prepare for Summer on Your Farm
An easy to use and reliable firefighting unit for your ute is a very useful tool for peace of mind when managing fire risk over summer in rural areas.
All firefighting units on farm should be checked, serviced and test run in the lead up to summer. It’s best to replace the fuel in the pump engine with new fuel as part of this service if your unit has had very little use over the cooler months as it’s better to waste a small amount of stale fuel than to deal with hassles starting your pump. The engine on your pump must be easy to start and everyone on farm should know the steps they need to take to get the firefighter running (even if this means storing a cheat sheet in the glove box of the ute). It’s also important to have a container with extra fuel securely stored on the back of the ute so that your firefighting unit doesn’t run out of fuel if you do need to fight a fire.
Compact firefighter units which incorporate a tank, pump and hose are a bestselling product at FarmCo. These are popular because they enable you to select a smaller tank that takes up less space on the back of your ute as well as enable you to easily get to a fire on farm. We supply quality Coerco firefighters which are proudly made in the Western Australian wheabelt town of Dalwallinu. Coerco offer a variety of options for tray back utes, with tanks available in a 600 litre size right up to 1,000 litre capacity tanks. Coerco compact units can be easily forked on and off the back of your ute. They also come with 30 metres of 25 mm firefighting hose on a galvanised steel hose reel, 50mm camlock quick connection fittings, a 6 metre suction hose with foot valve so that you can draw water from a dam or other water supply easily if you need to, a sump drain for easy clean out of the tank, and the option of a quality petrol or diesel Aussie Fire Chief Pump with a quality Honda engine.
Or if you prefer, we also supply Coerco 480 litre firefighting units for well-body utes, Coerco skid mount firefighting units with easy lifting and tie down points and Coerco trailed units if you want to buy a unit that comes with its own trailer and is ready for you to hook up and go.
Incidentally, as all Coerco firefighting units come with a durable tank (all Coerco tanks are made thicker than industry standard), a 30 metre long hose and an adjustable nozzle, they also happen to be extremely handy for wash down jobs at other times of the year.
Firefighting Pumps
If it’s just the pump on your firefighting unit that needs replacing, we also carry the Australian owned and operated Orange Pumps UP650 petrol firefighting pump. This pump is unique (and popular) because its torque tuned impeller delivers twin impeller performance from a single impeller, with the pump supplying up to 80 metres of pressure. Specifically, the pump can give you 250 litres per minute at an operating pressure of 60 metres or 85 PSI because the pump’s hydraulically shaped impeller, neck ring seal and wide diffuser channels allow it to deliver a significant volume of water at high pressure. The UP650 petrol pump comes with a quality Honda engine, the capacity to handle solids, as well as super quick self-priming.
Other Firefighting Resources: Tanks & Fittings
Tough and durable rain water tanks or water storage tanks in the right place on your farm are also of course a valuable firefighting asset. We sell Coerco tanks in the full range of sizes and styles and any tanks over 9,000 litre in size are free delivery to property in WA. We also carry a wide range of water fittings to cover all your water supply needs, including Philmac fittings, Raindrop fittings and Plasson compression fittings as well as troughs.
